Digital signal processing (DSP) refers to the computer processing of time-series data such as radio or sound. It is in contrast to various forms of analogue signal processing, involving circuits with fixed components such as resistors and transistors. Some forms of DSP effectively emulate the largely linear processing of theor analogue predecessors, band-pass filters that tune a singal to a particular frequency. However, it is also possible to produce more complex filters, for example those that speed up speech without increasing the pitch.
